We got married in the summer of 2023 and, during that same time, left our corporate tech jobs and city apartment to embark on a year-long trip around the world.

The San Francisco Bay Area has always been our home. Over the past few years, we’ve seen people move out of their apartments to become homeowners outside of the city, while others left the state entirely. We naturally assumed the next step for us was to buy a home too—our relationship spanned a decade, we were somewhat tired of renting, and the market was as decent as it could be. But our search was short and had little excitement and commitment… so we put it on pause.

If we weren’t going to buy a house yet, what would we do? One day Lillian jokingly said, “I wish we could just quit our jobs and travel the world.” Keon responded, “Why not?”

And here we are. Officially taking a break from the 9-to-5.

We’re so excited for this next adventure and the memories we’ll make along the way. This blog is meant to be our candid travel journal—for us to look back on and remember the little things—but we’ll also be sharing tips, learning experiences, photos, and more.
